„Flecken zum Taggen“ ist ein Fotowettbewerb für Amateurfotografen, der von MagicMaps in gemeinsamer Sache mit der Geotagging Community locr veranstaltet wird.

Mitmachen ist einfach und nebenbei könnt Ihr noch tolle Preise gewinnen!

Fotografiert eure Lieblings-Rastplätze entlang der Ausflugstour. Anschließend die Bilder der Wettbewerbsgruppe hinzufügen und schon nehmt Ihr an dem Wettbewerb teil.

We are presenting the new, improved, ultimate locr travel photo book with dynamic layouts. From now on photos, texts and maps can quickly and easily be moved, rotated, enlarged and minimized. For example, to change the position of a photo, simply select it and place it where you want. To vary the size just drag the corner or edge. There is also an option to rotate a photo by just clicking the „edit-icon“. But handle with care, it’s dizzying.

Wir präsentieren euch das neue, verbesserte, ultimative locr Reisefotobuch mit dynamischen Layouts. Fotos, Texte und Karten lassen sich ab sofort schnell und einfach verschieben, rotieren, vergrößern und verkleinern. Um z.B. die Position eines Fotos zu verändern, einfach in das Fotofenster klicken und das Bild flexibel platzieren. Und die Größe lässt sich simpel durch Ziehen an Ecke oder Kante variieren. Und wenn Ihr mal ein Bild um 360° drehen wollt, einfach nur auf das „Bearbeiten-Icon“ im Fotofenster klicken und die gewünschte Rotation einstellen. Vorsicht Schwindelgefahr!

Neuer locrUpload 1.1 für das iPhone

Nun ist es da! Das erste Upgrade der locr Geotagging Software für das iPhone und den iPod Touch ist ab sofort im App Store downloadable. locrUpload nutzt die integrierte Lokalisierungsfunktion des iPhones und iPods Touch. Dank der Optimierung des Ortungssystems ist die neue Version jetzt noch genauer bei der Positionierung eurer Fotos. Die besten Ergebnisse werden aber nach wie vor mit dem GPS fähigen iPhone 3G erzielt. Eine weitere Neuheit ist die Erstellung von locr Alben sowie die Möglichkeit Fotos in einem iPhone Album zu speichern. Und wer sich nicht gern Passwörter merkt, wird sich freuen. Dein locr Passwort kann von nun an verschlüsselt im Schlüsselbund gespeichert werden. Eure misslungenen Verknipser soll keiner sehen? Der neue Mülleimer-Button ist fest integriert und verschafft Abhilfe. Zu guter Letzt ist das kleine Problem der Vorgängerversion mit den verdrehten Fotos auch behoben. Versprochen!

Here it is! The upgrade of the locr geotagging software for iPhone and iPod Touch is now available at the app store. LocrUpload uses the iPhone and iPods location services. Thanks to the optimization of the positioning system the new version allows more precise photo geotagging. The best results are still made with the GPS enabled iPhone 3G. Another novelty is a feature that allows creating locr albums as well as saving photos in your iPhone album. And if you don’t like to remember passwords, you can save your locr password encrypted on your iPhone. Your failed photos should not be seen? A new trash button is integrated and finds remedy. Last but not least the small problem with the rotated photos is also solved now. We promise!

We are pleased to announce that from now on locr offers geophoto services to the Apple community. Two new products are provided by us to ensure a seamless integration of photo sharing and travel photo books in the Apple environment.

locr and Houdah Software, a software company specialized in quality Mac OS X software, jointly released an exclusive locr edition of Houdah Geo, the premiere photo geotagging solution for the Mac. „HoudahGeo LE - locr edition“ is a one-stop geotagging software for Apple Macintosh, linking GPS data to photos and even allowing manual geotagging by interfacing with Google Earth. The free software supports a wide range of GPS loggers, including automatic tagging using GPX or NMEA logs. It also integrates with Apple‘s Aperture and Adobe‘s Lightroom.

In addition to that locr released a free iPhoto plug-in, which provides a comfortable way to upload photos directly from iPhoto to our premier geotagging photo community. For those Mac users that use iPhoto and want to explore their travel photos in a different and exciting way, the "locr uploader 1.0" plug-in is certainly the best choice. It combines all elaborate features of iPhoto with the possibilities of locr, e.g. all iPhoto descriptions, titles and keywords as well as the privacy level or the image size could be added right from the export window. locr user spent the night at earthquake near Poás Volcano in Costa Rica

Poás Volcano, epicenter of earthquake

SAN JOSE, Costa Rica — A strong earthquake, which struck last Thursday, killed at least thirteen people. The Costa Rican government declared a state of emergency in San Jose and surrounding areas.

The U.S. Geological Survey said the 6.1-magnitude temblor was centered 35 kilometers northwest of the capital of San Jose, near the Poás Volcano.

It was a blessing in disguise for locr user turnersson who was on an excursion to Poás Volcano national park. Immediately before the quake he spent the night at a little finca located directly at the epicentre. “Fortunately we have changed our plans and first moved to the finca and then to the volcano areal and not the other way round” turnersson said.

Thanks to its GPS-datalogger turnersson actually knew where he was. You can even identify the finca on satellite imagery.

Turnersson had great fortune but many people are still missing. Red Cross believes they are buried by a landslide at the popular La Paz waterfall. Search teams are trying to find the missing tourists and locals.

Merry Christmas, everyone! Only five days until Christmas Eve! We at locr are really in a Christmas mood. We are looking forward to seeing our families and loved ones. For today, I baked a cake for the locr team. What do you think? Do they like my Choco Santa?

But is there really a Santa Claus, that brings gifts and toys to children? Eight-year-old Virginia O'Hanlon wanted to know and wrote a letter to the editor of New York's Sun, and the quick response of Francis Church was printed as an unsigned editorial Sept. 21, 1897.

"DEAR EDITOR: I am 8 years old.
"Some of my little friends say there is no Santa Claus.
"Papa says, 'If you see it in THE SUN it's so.'
"Please tell me the truth; is there a Santa Claus?

"VIRGINIA O'HANLON.
"115 WEST NINETY-FIFTH STREET."

VIRGINIA, your little friends are wrong. They have been affected by the skepticism of a skeptical age. They do not believe except what they see. They think that nothing can be which is not comprehensible by their little minds. All minds, Virginia, whether they be men's or children's, are little. In this great universe of ours man is a mere insect, an ant, in his intellect, as compared with the boundless world about him, as measured by the intelligence capable of grasping the whole of truth and knowledge.

Yes, VIRGINIA, there is a Santa Claus. He exists as certainly as love and generosity and devotion exist, and you know that they abound and give to your life its highest beauty and joy. Alas! how dreary would be the world if there were no Santa Claus. It would be as dreary as if there were no VIRGINIAS. There would be no childlike faith then, no poetry, no romance to make tolerable this existence. We should have no enjoyment, except in sense and sight. The eternal light with which childhood fills the world would be extinguished.

Not believe in Santa Claus! You might as well not believe in fairies! You might get your papa to hire men to watch in all the chimneys on Christmas Eve to catch Santa Claus, but even if they did not see Santa Claus coming down, what would that prove? Nobody sees Santa Claus, but that is no sign that there is no Santa Claus. The most real things in the world are those that neither children nor men can see. Did you ever see fairies dancing on the lawn? Of course not, but that's no proof that they are not there. Nobody can conceive or imagine all the wonders there are unseen and unseeable in the world.

You may tear apart the baby's rattle and see what makes the noise inside, but there is a veil covering the unseen world which not the strongest man, nor even the united strength of all the strongest men that ever lived, could tear apart. Only faith, fancy, poetry, love, romance, can push aside that curtain and view and picture the supernal beauty and glory beyond. Is it all real? Ah, VIRGINIA, in all this world there is nothing else real and abiding.

No Santa Claus! Thank God! he lives, and he lives forever. A thousand years from now, Virginia, nay, ten times ten thousand years from now, he will continue to make glad the heart of childhood.
