The city limits of Aktobe, Kazakhstan. We had been driving for three days since entering Kazakhstan. No tarmac, no good roads, just us, the Micra and lots of dust and sand.
Aktobe (Kazakh: Ақтөбе; Russian: Актюбинск or "Aktyubinsk"; alternative transliterations: Aqtöbe) is a city on the Ilek River in Kazakhstan. With a population of 320,000, it is the capital of Aktobe Province. Aktobe has a mixed ethnic community, including Kazakhs, Russians, Ukrainians, Tatars, Uyghurs, Chechens, Armeni...
The actual location is a bit of a best guess. I can't remember which road we drove along into Aktobe. I spent about 20 minutes looking at satellite images on google, but couldn't find a place that I was sure of. In the end I chose the centre of Aktobe as the point on the map.
