Excellent views of the surrounding hills and valleys can be had from the top of the Long Mynd, which is part of the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The name 'Long Mynd' means 'Long Mountain', and comes from the Welsh word for mountain, 'Mynydd'.
